Lingyan received her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Tokyo, Japan. In her doctoral studies, she investigated how the circadian clock regulates fetal brain development. Her current research in the Bohórquez Laboratory focuses on how the gut stores nutritional information in memory.
