Marguerita obtained in 1998 her B.S. in Biology from the University of Massachusetts. From 1999 to 2010, she worked consecutively in three laboratories Howard Hughes Medical Institute Laboratories, including those of Drs. Catherine Dulac at Harvard, and Drs. Larry Katz and Michael Ehlers at Duke University. Marguerita is an expert in the production of viral vectors, including g-deleted rabies virus for mapping neural circuits. Prior to joining The Bohórquez Laboratory in 2016, and since 2010, she managed the Duke Viral Vector Core facility. As a Senior Scientist in The Bohórquez Laboratory, Marguerita is developing an assortment of viral vectors and in vitro culture assays to uncover the function of gut-brain neural circuits.
